Description

Description

Sigmatherm 500 Aluminum is a heat-resistant aluminum coating based on a modified alkyd resin, designed for the protection of steel structures at temperatures up to 500°C.

Applicability Sigmatherm 500 Aluminium

This coating is suitable for both internal and external protection of steel structures exposed to high temperatures, such as pipelines, chimneys and industrial furnaces.

Features and benefits

  • Heat resistant: resistant to temperatures up to 500°C.
  • Melt: a minimum temperature of 200°C is required to fuse the aluminum coating.
  • Processing temperature: processable up to 5°C.

Compatibility

Sigmatherm 500 can be used as primer and topcoat in one system, without the need for a separate primer.

Color and gloss level

Available in aluminum color with a eigluster finish.

Instructions for use

Stir the paint well before use until it is homogeneous in color and texture; in practice, up to 5 minutes of stirring is sufficient. The temperature of the paint should preferably be above 15°C to maintain proper viscosity.

Drying times and thinning

  • Dust dry: 1 hour at 20°C.
  • Paintable: after 24 hours at 20°C.
  • Fully cured: at least 3 days at 20°C before exposure to heat.

Normally, dilution is not required. If required, a suitable thinner can be used; refer to the technical data sheet.

Yield and layer thickness

The theoretical yield is 12.8 m² per liter at a dry film thickness of 25 µm. The recommended dry film thickness is 25 µm per coat.

Application methods

Sigmatherm 500 Aluminum can be applied by brush, roller (above the waterline only) or spray equipment. For best results, air spraying is recommended with a nozzle opening of 2-3 mm and a pressure of 3-4 bar.
