As a business leader at CIV Lauwerszee, you will work with the board to develop a strategy that will allow us to go full steam ahead in the coming years. Questions like ‘Where do opportunities lie, what needs can we meet and how do we respond to developments in the industry?’ keep us busy and keep you on your toes. On such issues, you take the lead in setting the course. Call it vision, call it steering. You are at the helm and help set our course!
Who we are
Our organization is located in the ports of Harlingen & Lauwersoog, in the middle of the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site and close to the North Sea. CIV Lauwerszee Holding BV was founded in 1968 by the fishermen of Zoutkamp. Initially intended as a purchasing organization for the fishery. We have since grown into a cooperative consisting of 200 members, a five-member board and 22 salaried employees.
The maritime stores supply products to the shipping inland and offshore for both individuals and professionals. We also have a technical workshop that performs maintenance on the ships.
What you will do
As a business leader, you will be responsible for effectively leading and managing all aspects of our operations. In addition to meeting organizational goals, you will also ensure the financial health of the company.
You move among the employees as a natural leader. You know where you want to go and you know how to take people with you in this.
The branch managers of Harlingen and Lauwersoog fall directly under your leadership. As well as the financial administration team.
You take care of a budget in which you set financial targets. With the financial administration department you complete the monthly financial data where you analyze and interpret the figures. You process these figures in a report and share it with the board. With them you have two monthly meetings. In this meeting you explain the financial data. In doing so, you provide the board with strategic recommendations. Together with the board you give direction to the organization and ensure that plans are implemented.
In this role, you will also maintain intensive contact with external parties. You are the face of our organization and therefore the point of contact for members, customers and suppliers.

- You are 24 to 40 hours
- You have experience in a leadership role, preferably within the fishing industry or a similar industry (such as offshore, pleasure or commercial shipping or agricultural).
- You are entrepreneurial and think in terms of opportunities.
- You are a connector. With your approachable attitude you connect with our staff and members. From your interest in the shipping or maritime sector you know what is going on among both professional fishermen and recreational fishermen.
- You are analytically strong and make sure we stay on track. With a strategic vision, you know where we want to go in the long term and how to get there.
